Coming from the northeast we would of never imagined seeing such beautiful beaches! Fort Lauderdale was a great place to relax, and unwind after getting married. This was just a long weekend for us but so glad we did it. The weather was hot but perfect considering our phones were telling us thunderstorms all week. August can be hit-or-miss with weather. Either way it was hot but blue skies and beach weather every day. The water down here was so clear, you could swim out to your waist and still see your feet. The sand was also different; the texture was much smoother and lighter in color. There were pretty pieces of coral and sea shells everywhere. What was also great about our stay was the resort we chose. We stayed at the B Ocean resort which is the ONLY resort on the beach side. Literally we walked outside from our hotel and directly onto the beach. That was heaven! We had views for miles of beach, water, and palm trees. The resort had on location 2 great restaurants; The Naked Crab, and The Wreck Bar. There was also a bar/cafe available throughout the day. If you didn’t want to go to the beach there were 2 pools, gym, and very cozy lounge area. The first day we got there we did rent beach bikes and rode around for a bit, discovering the amount of geckos that live in Florida.
Going out was fun too. Along the stretch of beach across the street were shops and restaurants all very good with their tropical drinks, live music, and fresh seafood. Probably our favorite place we ate at was Coconuts. A casual but, amazing spread of fresh seafood and drink specials. This was right off the dock. We didn’t make reservations but still got seated pretty quickly. They had oysters on the half shell specials among other fantastic spreads. Another favorite spot we ate at was Pelican’s Landing. This was also down the dock with great views of the water. They had amazing food and this great conch fritters for appetizers.
The staff at B Ocean courteous and really nice. They made us feel welcome and took care of things. I would recommend staying here. Also while we were down there was some construction going on so a lot more exciting things will be coming soon.
