While in Tampa on a photo shoot I wanted to see some local sights with the down time I had between shoot dates. Saint Petersburg was about an hour or so away from where I was in Tampa and by the time we wrapped I wasn’t too motivated to drive that far. Ybor City came across my radar and was the perfect choice for a couple nights out with good weather, vibes, and food. Ybor City is a historic neighborhood in Tampa, Florida founded in the 1880s. Ybor City was the mecca for hand rolled cigars. In its early years it was populated by immigrants from Cuba, Spain, and Italy. Since the great depression to today’s evolution it has been designated as a National Historic Landmark. The city does not have as many cigar shops but still has plenty of culture along the streets. The choice of restaurants is a mix of Cuban, and Spanish inspired; cuisine I love.
